hope this isn't the second message one was just blocked with that infernal advert by IE.my problem is i am trying to run two laptops from the mentioned hub,i can only get one to work and that is from the usb port.the installation disc states the use of ethernet cables which i am using .is my router up the spout? codger

It should be possible. I run two laptops from my BT Home hub, one USB and the other Ethernet.
Have you checked that Ethernet is enabled on that PC? For example try: Start/control panel/network connections to see what is enabled in each case.
