Why are economies faced with the economic problem (ie. that not all ends can be met,due to the means

I think considering the fundamental idea of scarcity may find the answer. If goods and services are too much in demand, and they are often, they become scarce. Thus resources required to obtain those, consumers and government put these there, and resources become unavailable to serve other purposes, as in making ends meet.
