Who else has had problems with limewire ie:viruses or hackers?

I downloaded a file from limewire that has given my computer all sorts of viruses and hackers,have been trying to get into my computer.anyone else had problems like that?

In limewire you can avoid this type of thing, just never download the zip folders or the wma files, Only use the mp3 type files, these are stand alone and you know whats in the folder where if you download the zip folders they will unlease terror on your system, Below are some good tools to help you deal with the viruses, And be sure to use the spyware doctor because it is the best for finding malware,,

Here is a very good tool called Winpatrol and it monitors your computer for programs that try to run on your system without your knowlege, This tool also allows you to manage all the startup programs on your computer,, It also warns you if a program tries to run without your permission, I use this software and I recommend it,

Here is a free and very good antivirus tool called avg free, You can even schedule it to scan at certian time of day or night, whichever best suits your scedule, Note that if you have a virus that is tough to remove then use this tool in safe mode by tapping the F-8 key while you computer is starting up, Once your in safe mode run this antivirus and it works very well,

Note; You should never use more than one antivirus on your computer at a time,

Here is the PC Tools free antivirus and is a very good antivirus and you can also schedule the scanner to run when you want it to run, If you have a virus that tough to remove then start your computer up in safe mode by tapping the F-8 key while your computer is starting up And run the antivirus while in safe mode , This works very well,,

No. Don't download files that are low in size. Don't download files that are like 256kb
i have had problems with that... never use KAZA! limewire is iffy.... just dont download is all i can recommend... its an 800$ fine for getting caught neways, is it really worth it?

One file I downloaded from Limewire was corrupt, so I deleted it straight away. Get rid of it otherwise it'll play havoc with your system. Also, run Spybot or whatever you have afterwards too.

Dont download them, Kazza killed my computer. And Limewire gave me a whole lot of virus. Delete the program. Sometimes getting music is just not worth it .
I downloaded music and pics from Limewire. My computer locked up and I discovered I had 3 Trojan Horses in it. My it guy on campus cleaned it up, but he did tell me that the Horses were so virulent that they almost got his stuff. He went in thinking it was a routine deal. I won't use Limewire anymore. Crying shame.
not lime wire trace but my pc caught a virus from bearshare and was down for days till i got it repaired iam too scared to go on limewire and would love to no were i could download music safely other than i tunes or do we just have to pay for it now on i tunes
never had a problem but you have to have a good firewall, spy ware and anti virus to keep clean.

You can also prevent access by denying sharing options.
Limewire is just a gnutella client (and now has a bittorrent client built in aswell). There is a lot of content on the Gnutella network, just like there is a lot of content on the web, and on both a significant proportion of the content is malicious. By using common sense, I've never downloaded malware via limewire or any other gnutella client.
Using Limewire, Kazza or ANY OTHER peer-to-peer (P2P) programs such as Bearshare to illegally steal music, software and movies etc. without paying for it, is one of the leading causes of virus, trojan, and spyware infections. Many downloads using P2P file-sharing programs are loaded with malware

LIMEWIRE IS NOT A WEBSITE.

You will be downloading "stuff" from unknown stranger's computers while these strangers will be downloading some of your files from your computer at the same time. You do not download from any website.

It is amazing that people who would never accept and eat a sandwich from a stranger, don't think twice about downloading a file to their brand-new $2000.00 computer from a perfect stranger, who lives half-way around the World!

If you don't know the difference between a .wmp (good) file from a .wmf (potentially very bad) file or a .zip from a .pif, then stay away from Limewire, Kazaa, and all P2P programs. The same is true if you don't know the difference between a song that is 25kb in size from one that is 3 mb in size. The smaller one is probably a Trojan, just waiting for you to infect your computer with.

P2P file-sharing is no place for computer novices. Even experienced expert users get infected using P2P at times.

If you must use P2P, always scan every file you download with both your anti-virus and your anti-spyware before you open it.

Using Limewire or any other P2P file sharing program such as Kaaza or Bearshare, (free or paid) to share any copyrighted music, movies, software etc. in illegal in the USA.

It is fairly rare, but people do get sued and fined for using these P2P programs. Such as this 12 year old girl here:

Yep, been there, seen it, done it, got the t-shirt and the badge. Avoid Limewire like a really bad illness. I had Limewire Pro and my anti-virus and spyware programmes were running full time trying to keep out all of the threats. Find another way of downloading your media files.
Ive used Limewire on %26amp; off for about 4 years and in that time I`ve never had a problem with virus`s etc. I do have a security suite installed, but never ever think to scan my downloaded files before opening them. Am I really that lucky.
try u torrent never had a problem for years and maybe if producers lowered their price not so many people would do it illeaglly i wont pay 锟?0 for any kind of cd or dvd when it cost no where near that to produce it but thats just my opinion
