I use Limewire or Frostwire. Ive never had any problems with either. Neither had adaware or spyware.

IThere are a ton of free music downloads that won't cause problems with IE. If you mean download clients e.g limewire, it's not a matter of what client you use (limewire etc), it's a matter of the files themselves. Any free P2P network will have both good and bad/malicious files.

Don't have to worry about viruses and adware like limewire. Also its legal.
