Acer Aspire 5315-2153. I bought one at Walmart last friday at their pre-Black Friday sale for $348 plus tax. I had been researching what I could get as far as lowest-cost to most hardware for the money. This wins hands down. You cannot touch a 15" LCD 1.7+ GB processor plus 1GB DDR2 RAM and DVD/CDRW combo for less than $600 in a new, non-refurbished laptop. Hated to give the evil empire my money, but what a great deal! Excellent for web browsing, everyday uses- video runs seamlessly even in multiple apps. Gaming is limited due to graphics card, but most laptops in the sub $600 range will be (still not bad tho). Has a Windows Vista rating of 3.1 due to graphics card- all other categories were high 3's, low 4's-they base the score on the weakest component. That is on a 1-5 scale that also applies to desktops, so pretty excellent for a sub $600 laptop!
Only sold at Walmart for this sale, but if you can still get one on Ebay for $350 or even $400 unopened, I would recommend it.
(P.S. Acer has improved quality GREATLY in the past few years based on my own research before I pulled the trigger on this)
